This morning, at the July 8, 2008 regular meeting of the San Clemente Sunrise Rotary Club, we officially kicked-off the work on our 7th Annual Charity Golf Tournament. On September 8, 2008 The San Clemente Sunrise Rotary Club will host its 7th Annual Charity Golf Tournament at the Pacific Golf and Country Club. The event raises money for local charities, with its primary beneficiaries being Saddleback Memorial San Clemente and Laura's House. Last year we wrote a $25,000 check to Laura's House, a local women's shelter, and another $25,000 was contributed to a wide range of local and international charities. The Annual Charity Golf Tournament is one of our club's largest fundraisers, and we work hard each year to increase what we are able to give back to our community.
This year, the Tournament is moving from its former home at Talega to the Pacific Golf & Country Club in San Clemente. Pacific is a 27 hole course designed by Gary Player. In the past it has had a reputation as a challenging course, however, the Club, which recently changed owners is undergoing a course "softening", which will make it more enjoyable and playable for the occassional golfers. For those with lower handicaps, no need to worry as it will still provide plenty of challenge. To assist those not familiar with the course, we've enlisted the assistance of Club members who will be available at each hole to help you with your strategy. To help you warm up, the course also offers unlimited use of the driving range and practice green prior to the start of your round.
